World War I opened with a dizzying rush in the summer of 1914 and soon Europe was plunged into its most destructive struggle ever. In 1917, President Wilson asked for a declararion of war and America joined the struggle. World War I involved 28 countries on six continents. Its land battles flared from China to the African coast, and its sea battles from Jutland to the Falkland Islands. The major focus of the Great War, however, was the 600 mile stretch of trenches known as the Western Front. The DVD includes two printable teacher guide featuring reproducible handouts, activities, exercises, vocabulary words, and other related materials. Recommended for grades 4-10. 39 minutes.
