George Washington Carver - Trailer from Franklin Springs on Vimeo.
His journey was extraordinary: though born a slave, by the end of his life, presidents and corporate titans valued his friendship. Millions of Americans benefited from his innovations. His scientific genius is legendary, but less known is his remarkable path to greatness, defined by a life-long passion for serving others. George Washington Carver blazed trails in his personal and professional lives."This is an excellent movie for inspiration or education and it should be considered as part of any study of George Washington Carver.
The film makers have included interviews with experts, including a ranger from the Carver National Monument and the interpretive director of the Carver Birthplace Association. There are great Carver-era photographs and viewers have the opportunity to see where Carver grew up and accomplished his great work.
Of course the story wouldn't be complete without a thorough discussion of the prejudice Carver had to overcome and the influence he had on the advancement of rights of black people. Also, to the delight of those of us who are tired of seeing watered-down biographies (books or movies) that remove any mention of religion, it's wonderful to see an inclusion of Carver's strong faith. Finally, the man had a GREAT mind. We learn about his often difficult (due to prejudice) strive for education and how he was able to become one of the greatest scientists to ever live.
The film really left me with a much greater appreciation of Carver's life experiences, goals, and accomplishments. I would highly recommend it!"
