Algebra
Algebra is a branch of mathematics that uses mathematical statements to describe relationships between things that vary over time. When we use a mathematical statement to describe a relationship, letters and symbol (or variables) are used to represent the quantity that varies, since it is not a fixed amount. The statements that explain the relationships are expressed using algebraic terms, expressions, or equations. Algebra is typically broken down into Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II, and Pre-Algebra can be taught as early as 7th grade.
