Florence Nightingale(May 12, 1820-August 13, 1910) was a pioneer of modern nursing and a noted statistician. Inspired by a “divine calling,” she committed herself to caring for others and thus changing the science and practice of nursing.
It was the height of the Crimean War, and English soldiers were wounded and dying by the hundreds. The shocking conditions of British field hospitals only worsened potential recovery.
Into these rat- and flea-infested facilities stepped a woman of uncompromising convictions, great patience and an iron will.
When Florence Nightingale, “ The Lady of the Lamp,” arrived on the scene, her deep appreciation for human life translated into her most famous contribution!
Learn about this courageous heroine and how she helped to redefine the science and practice of nursing as we know it today.

Not sure how I missed that Nightingale was a nurse when I was younger. :) Teaching neighborhood kids about service and decided to try this one. Glad my friend passed it along. A crowd favorite
