Parable Description
This parable is about division and judgment. The wheat represents "those who are worthy," and the tares (or the weeds) represent "the evil ones." He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; the field is the world, and the good seeds are the children of the kingdom. The tares (or the weeds) are the children of the wicked one, and the enemy that sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the reapers are the angels. When Christ returns, He will separate the wheat from the tares.

This parable describes the kingdom of heaven. Jesus says that the kingdom “is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.” When the merchant locates one of immense value, he sells everything in his possession in order to buy it. When we hear the good news of the Gospel and learn that Christ will one day return, it should cause us to focus in on the one thing that matters – eternity with Him.

The Lost Sheep

|
Luke 15:4-7 |
The Lost is found |
Parable Description
This parable emphasizes the lost and the hurting. Jesus likens a "sinner" to one who is lost. Finding him is more important than many who are not lost. To put it plainly, Jesus teaches that the person in peril is at that moment more important than those who are not in danger.
|
Video Description
Those men and women who recognize their own sins often rejoice that Jesus Christ would want to help anyone who is lost. Three such sinners—Mathew the publican, Miriam the harlot, and a sick man named Jonah—all came to Jesus in need of hope, healing and forgiveness.
Weaving together several New Testament stories (including the Parable of the Lost Coin, the Parable of the Lost Sheep, and the Parable of the Two Debtors), The Lost is Found Bible video shows how Jesus generously extends His mercy to each sinner and lovingly forgives the repentant.

"'Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven — for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.'"-- Luke 7: 47

Parable Description
This parable is about loss and redemption. As recounted in Luke 15, a woman with ten silver coins loses one. She then lights a lamp and sweeps her house until she finds it, rejoicing when she does. The one lost coin becomes, in a sense, more valuable than the other nine. Jesus uses this parable to illustrate that those who are lost in the faith are very imporant and should be sought after.

Forgive Us Our Debts Video |
Parable Description
This parable highlights the moral principle, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." A servant was brought before the king and asked to settle his debt. He fell at the feet of the king, pleaded for patience in paying the debt and was ultimately relieved of the obligation. But that same servant—who had just been forgiven—came upon a fellow servant who owed him a debt. Instead of exercising mercy and patience, he threw the man in jail until he could pay back his debt. When the king heard this, he in turn threw the forgiven servant in jail until he, too, was able to re-pay his original debt. In this parable, Jesus calls each of us to forgive our brother from the heart.
|
Video Description
Jesus teaches Peter about the power to forgive and how to control his anger at those who do him wrong. Christ tells the story about a man who owes his King ten thousand talents to demonstrate that the ability to forgive comes from our Heavenly Father. In the end, the King takes pity and forgives the man of the debt. Ironically, however, the pardoned man leaves the King's presence and immediately casts one of his own debtors into prison. |

Parable Description
In this parable, a man with two sons asked the oldest to go work in the vineyard. The son answered, "no," but went anyway later. Then the father told the other son the same thing. The other son answered, "yes, I will," but he didn't go. Jesus used this parable to speak to those who believed they were without sin. The nonbelievers were accepting the message taught by John the Baptist and were repenting, while the believers were still continuing in their sins. This parable teaches the value of actions and repentance over stated beliefs.

The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus teaches about the afterlife. Lazarus, the beggar, died and went to heaven; the rich man, however, died and went to hell. The Rich Man asked Father Abraham to have pity on him and to send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool his tongue. But Abraham reminded the rich man that he received good things while living on earth and Lazarus bag things, but that Lazarus is now being comforted. Both the rich man and Lazarus lived differently while on earth; likewise, their rewards after death were different.

Parable Description
The Parable of the Ten Talents is about good stewardship and being responsible. A man was preparing for travel and gave talents to his servants, according to their abilities. To one he gave 5 talents, to another two, and to another one. The ones who were given 5 talents and 2 talents doubled their investments; the one who was given 1 talent buried it until the traveling man returned. To the dismay of the traveling man, he took the 1 talent away from the unproductive servant. Christians have taken this parable to mean that diligence in carrying out one's basic responsibilities is essential for more important tasks in the future.

The Messiah Comes! Video |
Parable Description
In order to describe just how eager they were to reject Him, Jesus tells this parable to the chief priests in the temple. A vineyard was planted and started by a man who had to leave on a journey. He sent his servants to collect his fruit, but the tenants refused and killed them. The man sent his own son, believing that the servants wouldn't kill his own son, but he, too, died at their hands. Their actions will bring them a terrible end, and the vineyard will be handed over to more trustworthy tenants.
|
Video Description
In final days on earth, the disciples of Jesus Christ struggled to understand His mission. They were blinded by their expectations of the Messiah, thinking that He would deliver them from Roman rule and establish His Kingdom on earth in their day.
Journey with the disciples as they witness Jesus cleansing the temple, triumphantly entering Jerusalem on a colt, teaching the Parable of the Lord of the Vineyard (also known as the Parable of the Wicked Husbandmen), and healing a lame man! |

The Good Samaritan Video |
Parable Description
The Good Samaritan is perhaps the most touching parable that Jesus ever taught. The story begins with the lawyer's trick question, "What is the greatest commandment?" But the lawyer then asks Jesus to tell him who his neighbor is. Jesus responds with a parable about a man who was attacked and robbed and left to die by the side of a road. The parable is told to teach that compassion should be for all people, and that fulfilling the spirit of the Law is just as important as fulfilling the letter of the Law. |
Video Description
The story begins with an expert in the law asking, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" (Luke 10:25, NIV). Jesus answers with a story about robbers, a Rabbi, a Levite and a man who was making his way from Jerusalem to Jericho. Imagine the wounded traveler's emotion as his own countrymen pass by while his enemy, a Samaritan, stops to help. This video teaches what it really means to "love thy neighbor"! |

Parable Description
This parable is about helping others and meeting others’ needs. Jesus says, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.'" The one inside the home gives excuses as to why he can’t help his friend: the door is locked, the children are in bed with him, etc. Jesus is teaching that our Father in Heaven gives to all who asks and opens the door for all who knock.
